Abstract

(Abstracted from Can J Anaesth, 63(10):1117–1121, 2016)

The main aim of this editorial is to emphasize the need to accept practical solutions to daily clinical problems and not blindly work on discovering new frontiers. In the case of cardiac surgery, the study by Jones et al (“Comparison of Isoflurane and Sevoflurane in Cardiac Surgery: A Randomized Noninferiority Comparative Effectiveness Trial”) proved that both sevoflurane and isoflurane are equally effective in anesthetic maintenance.
