SUMMARY

THIS ARTICLE PROVIDES THE STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING AND HEALTH PROFESSIONAL INSIGHT INTO THE POSSIBLE RATIONALE FOR USE OF ANDROGENIC-ANABOLIC STEROIDS AND OTHER PERFORMANCE-ENHANCING DRUGS USING THE TRANSTHEORETICAL MODEL. THIS MODEL IS OFTEN USED TO PROMOTE HEALTH-ADDITIVE BEHAVIORS, SUCH AS EXERCISE ADHERENCE. THE MODEL CAN BE USED TO EXAMINE HOW NEGATIVE CHOICES AND BEHAVIORS ARE MADE. THE MODEL CAN BE USED BY THE STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING PROFESSIONAL AND HEALTH PROFESSIONAL TO EXPLAIN THE SOCIOCULTURAL FACTORS FOR USING ANDROGENIC-ANABOLIC STEROIDS AND OTHER SUBSTANCES IN YOUNGER AGE CATEGORIES.
