Abstract

REFLECTIVE PRACTICE (RP) IS AN ESSENTIAL SKILL TO MAKE MEANING FROM EXPERIENCE AND IS CONSISTENTLY IDENTIFIED AS A WAY TO ENHANCE COACH EFFECTIVENESS. RESEARCH ON RP IN COACH EDUCATION CONTINUES TO GROW, ALTHOUGH THERE IS A PAUCITY OF RESEARCH SPECIFIC TO STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING (S&C). GIVEN THE POPULARITY AND RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH S&C FOR FOOTBALL, AN URGENT NEED EXISTS TO HELP FOOTBALL S&C COACHES (SCCS) LEARN HOW TO ENGAGE IN RP. THE PURPOSE OF THIS ARTICLE IS TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE EMERGING LITERATURE ON HOW COACHES DEVELOP KNOWLEDGE BY CONCEPTUALIZING RP IN THE CASE OF FOOTBALL SCCS.
