Abstract

The present paper reports a case of restless legs syndrome (RLS) in which the Flowtron DVT (Huntleigh Technologies, Luton, UK) was used as a deep vein thrombosis prevention system. The patient was a 31-year-old man who had experienced RLS since he was 28 years of age. Polysomnography was performed on the patient and the sleep patterns before and after the use of the Flowtron DVT were compared. After the treatment, the International Restless Legs Syndrome Study Group rating scale of severe (30 points) was improved to mild (10 points) and the sleep patterns of the patient were almost normal, with both RLS and insomnia greatly diminished.
