Abstract

Spiritual issues arise in the course of disaster response, for both survivors and responders. This article describes ethical considerations that are of particular concern to mental health personnel. It addresses dual agency considerations, the ethical application of explanatory models, and spiritual dimensions of psychosocial and educational interventions. It also looks at the role of narrative, belief, and reconciliation interventions to address spiritual issues that emerge following such crises.
