Abstract

Atypical mycobacterial infections ere uncommon, particularly in the spine. The authors present the case of a patient with vertebral osteomyelitis secondary to Mycobacterium chetonae subspecies abscessus that was sucessfully treated with surgical debridement and stabilization, followed by chemotherapy.
