SummaryFingertip injuries are frequent occurrences in athletes. Direct and local causes account for most of the lesions. Neurologic, vascular, and tendinous structures may also be involved more proximally, with terminal symptoms presenting at the fingertip. Thus, it is important to maintain awareness of the functional and physiologic nature of athletics to encompass the entire upper extremity, even if the injury is localized to the fingertip.
