Abstract

This article proposes that the theatre experience is, at points, comparable with the experience of dreaming, and can similarly change our ways of seeing through a process of disorientation. The statue that comes to life belongs to dream, but is also a figure of theatre. It is an aspect of the dialogue between actor and audience. The article concludes with a list of twelve paradoxes of the theatre.
