Abstract

This article describes the anatomy of the kidney and ureter. It begins with the embryological development and the mechanism for some congenital anomalies. The microscopic anatomy is described; as well as the gross anatomy of the kidneys, ureters and suprarenal (adrenal) glands including anatomical relations, arterial supply and venous and lymphatic drainage. Nerve supply and pain are also discussed.
