Femoral neck fractures are a common injury that is difficult to treat with frequent complications. Despite an extensive literature describing the treatment of patients with femoral neck fractures, the optimum management of this injury remains controversial. Within the last decade, a number of randomized clinical trials of various aspects of the treatment of femoral neck fractures have been published, and even more recently, several metaanalyses and systematic reviews related to hip fractures have been reported. The objective of this chapter is to review these reports to describe the best current evidence regarding different aspects of the management of patients with femoral neck fractures.
