Abstract

Operative treatment of proximal fifth metatarsal fractures often entails utilization of a cannulated intramedullary screw. However, cannulated screws have several inherent weaknesses as compared with solid-core screws. In the following description, we describe our method of placing a solid-core intramedullary screw into the fifth metatarsal in a reliable and reproducible manner.
