Abstract

Trapeziectomy associated with a pyrocarbon implant is a recent procedure for thumb basal joint osteoarthritis. The investigators report Pi2 pyrocarbon implant technique (Tornier Bioprofile, Grenoble, France) for primary thumb basal joint osteoarthritis. The key points of the procedure are preservation of the soft tissue environment during the trapeziectomy, partial trapezoidectomy to medialize the implant, and careful capsuloplasty and ligamentoplasty to stabilize the implant.
