Abstract

The booming economy has left many behind: According to recent reports on domestic hunger, the desperately poor are getting poorer. Although the federal safety net has been weakened by welfare reform, new collaborations between government, business, and private charity are strengthening the ultimate safety net: emergency-food supplies. This article concentrates on the growing involvement of restaurants in hunger relief, and the government's encouragement of this movement.
