A therapeutic yoga program designed for older adults and the supporting research has demonstrated significant improvement in floor transfer ability and standing balance. The study protocol was based on the ongoing work being performed in the Glenmore Ageless Therapeutic Yoga Program. Research confirmed the perceived results that Glenmore Ageless yoga students improved standing balance, lower body strength and increased floor transfer ability. This article discusses the protocol used in both the Ageless Yoga classes and the research study. The Program may be used and adapted across the continuum of care as an intervention in a safety and falls prevention or functional independence program.
