Abstract

Current research on urinary incontinence emphasizes addressing modifiable risk factors to prevent or delay the onset. This review documented five distinct themes relative to community continence programs: health promotion services, lifestyle/behavior modifications, pelvic floor muscle exercises, quality of life, and self-efficacy. All five domains demonstrate the nurse practitioner can have a significant impact in expanding available services for pelvic floor health promotion and treatment.
